Arc 4 — She Looks Twelve but Is Legally an Adult, We Swear Chapter 39

Chapter 39 — The Grand Finale Is Chanko Hot Pot~♪ (Part 1)

第39話 大団円はちゃんこ鍋ですよー♪ その1

And so we welcomed the construction crew to our homestead for the great renovation.

Clang, clang, tonk — hammer-song rang through the clearing.

The dwarf girl… twelve-year-old-looking Katia’s craftsmanship is the real thing. The cabin transformed before my eyes.

With ten-odd elf workers hired on as well, the build speed is genuinely absurd.

The metal came from the dwarf village, the lumber grows free in every direction — all that’s left is assembly.

“At LAST, I get my own room~♪”

“I lived the adventurer’s communal life for years, so I’m well accustomed… but yes. Privacy matters, after all.”

“Master… granting a private room even to a maid like me…”

Everyone’s deeply moved, apparently.

Well — the old place WAS a glorified shack.

It’s been genuinely cramped for this headcount.

A proper kitchen is on the plan too, which widens the menu considerably.

We’ve been eating outdoors, but a spacious living room is on the blueprint.

A butchering workshop is being attached as well — Arisa will be thrilled.

Plus a well, which ends the drinking-water problem for good. And obviously a bath — sized for group entry this time.

And — embarrassing admission — the toilet has been outdoors until now. Post-construction: indoors.

The roof leaked terribly too. I’d been quietly at my limit with all of it.

Also getting an upgrade: the altar. Per the Money-Grubbing God, a grander altar earns me a small discount on ordering fees.

Since brewing alcohol is on the future roadmap, several multi-purpose work sheds are going up too…

It’s a genuinely large-scale project with a long timeline — but the private rooms in the main house are being rushed to livable condition within days.

Either way, quality of life is about to jump a full tier. Thinking back to the snake-eating era… the feelings run deep.

And like everyone keeps saying — private rooms really are the dream.

I remind you: until now, the entire household slept in ONE bed.

Finally, my nights can be spent resting my body in peace, alone— I was thinking, when Sonya said this:

“So — will the bed in everyone’s SHARED sleeping room be built extra sturdy~?”

”…Eh?”

“Indeed — with Sonya’s boinging, one did wonder daily when it might give out.”

True, Sonya does mount up on top of me and boing at high frequency…

No — forget “boing,” it’s boingboingboingboingboingboing—

“Wait. We’re STILL all sleeping together? After building everyone private rooms?”

All three turned to me with the exact face of “what is he talking about?”

Ah. Understood.

The private rooms are merely private rooms… sleeping arrangements remain communal by axiom.

This household is never going to give me an easy night, I thought, smiling wryly.

“Right — tools down, everyone. Dinner time.”
