“Arisa’s business is a rip-off?”
Today, after Arisa collected the death hawk goods and left, Maria the succubus came out with exactly that.
“Indeed it is. A death hawk, you see… is the sort of merchandise that trades at around one thousand five hundred gold coins through the Adventurers’ Guild.”
What I received was seven hundred fifty.
She DID say, with a big smile, “I’ll be deductin’ my fee!”… but if Maria’s right, skimming a full HALF is well past excessive.
“So, Lord Tatsuya? Whatever do you intend to do?”
“Hmm…”
I don’t particularly enjoy doubting people.
Still — at minimum, the facts need establishing.
“Alright. Let’s go.”
Good timing, too — the palm-top rabbits just brought in another death hawk.
“And where are we going?”
“The Adventurers’ Guild in the nearest town, to check the buyback prices myself. It’s about half a day’s walk from here, right?”
At that, Sonya — queen of the palm-top rabbits — bit onto the plan instantly.
“Ufufu! TOWN~?! I’m coming too~♪”
“Sure, tag along if you want.”
At present I’m holding seven hundred fifty gold — precisely speaking, seven orichalcum plates and fifty gold coins.
In Japanese money, seven and a half million yen.
I want to see what a town here even looks like, and browse the daily-goods situation while I’m at it.
“Shopping~♪ Shopping~♪”
Sonya started skipping in delighted circles — boing, boing.
She has this habit where good news makes her bounce around wagging her tail.
“Ah — then I shall accompany you as well.”
“Yeah, come along if you like. I’ll even buy you clothes and trinkets, within reason.”
At that, Maria’s eyes changed color, and she wound her arm around my right arm.
“Kind gentlemen are… precisely my type. So your charms extend beyond the night, do they?”
That smoldering gaze is… honestly kind of painful.
“Ufufu~. I’m bringing thirty carrots as a snack~♪”
Oi oi. The itinerary says DAY TRIP.
“You’re planning to eat all of those in one day?”
“Yes~♪”
That is objectively too many carrots…
And so, off to town we went.
