“How’s the feel, kid? Any awkwardness?”
Yueli, in her usual tank top, asked smiling.
She was itching for my report.
“Mana flow is fine. But I want more flexibility when moving. The range feels narrower than the original arm.”
“Got it. I’ll adjust that direction. Removing the arm now. Tell me if it hurts.”
“Doesn’t bother me. Go ahead.”
“Lord Ouga, please sit here.”
I sat in the chair Alice prepared and extended my right arm to Yueli.
I’d said doesn’t bother me, but that’s a lie. In my past life, I watched needles go in.
But as ducal heir and now [Saint] (lol), I can’t show panic.
So don’t shake, right leg……!
[Dragon-Slay Fist · Kai] is body-embedded; removal causes pain.
Ordinary people don’t repeatedly detach prosthetics; for me, it matters.
A tiny misalignment is life-threatening; daily check is necessary.
If something feels off, adjustment.
“Okay, removal time.”
You can’t adjust with the arm attached.
So Yueli introduced an interface magical implement between my shoulder and [Dragon-Slay Fist · Kai].
Easy analogy — like a power outlet.
Before, [Dragon-Slay Fist · Shin (Plug)] plugged directly into right shoulder (outlet); now an extension-tap-equivalent attaches to shoulder, into which [Dragon-Slay Fist · Kai] plugs.
Between them, attachment is now between implement and prosthetic, sparing the shoulder pain during removal.
Physical burden much reduced.
“Alice-san, assist please.”
“Understood. Support as usual?”
“Yes, that’s fine. Three, two, one——”
Yueli counts down so I can brace for that instant.
The heavy [Dragon-Slay Fist · Kai].
Several times now I’ve felt the lightness post-removal.
But the usual pain wasn’t there at all.
I looked at Yueli.
She carefully held the prosthetic like a treasure, placed it on clean cloth.
”…… How was it, kid? Pain?”
“——No. Not a sting.”
She sighed deep, relieved.
Rare for the usually-bright her.
The previous [Dragon-Slay Fist · Kai] attachment had been what it was.
I’d had no complaints, but my pained face during attachment had stuck in Yueli’s mind — she told me directly when introducing this new connector.
The connector idea was hers too.
So success brought relief before joy for her.
Then for her sake, I should celebrate first.
“Great success, Yueli.”
I patted her shoulder and held out my left fist. She grinned and bumped it hard.
◇ Looking forward to your continued support this year!
Year-end was hectic with flu + family loss; sorry for slow updates.
To compensate, I’ll update tomorrow and the day after too. ◇
